Overview

The Jacinth-Ambrosia operation in South Australia is one of the world’s largest and highest-grade zircon mines. Iluka discovered the deposit in 2004 and commenced production in 2009. Jacinth-Ambrosia also produces low-grade rutile, ilmenite and rare earths.

The operation encompasses mining and wet concentration activities, with capacity to process up to ~120 tonnes per hour of heavy mineral concentrate. This heavy mineral concentrate is then transported to Iluka's Narngulu mineral separation plant in Western Australia for final processing.

Jacinth-Ambrosia is South Australia’s first mining development in a mixed-use regional reserve (the Yellabinna Regional Reserve). The operation is recognised by the South Australian Government for its levels of Indigenous employment and commitment to environmental management.

The site employs 110 people.
